Archon Garibaldi Honored by National Educational Research Association
Archon Antoine M. Garibaldi of Epsilon Boulé and President of Gannon University has been selected as a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). In establishing this new program, the AERA's goal is to honor outstanding leaders in education and those who have made exceptional "scientific and scholarly contributions." "It is a honor to have my scholarly and professional contributions over the last 30 years recognized by AERA," Garibaldi said. "Educational research has always been an important part of my career." Garibaldi is past-Chair of the Grand Social Action Committee and is currently serving as Vice-Chair.
The AERA also sought to recognize individuals who have served in leadership positions with various professional societies and organizations. Garibaldi is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and has served on the boards and committees of more than a dozen higher education organizations. Nationally, Garibaldi is serving, or has served on, the boards of the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the American Council on Education, the National Assocation of College and University Business Officers, the NCAA Division II Presidents Council, the University of Saint Thomas (Minn.), Seton Hall University (N.J.), the Sister Thea Bowman Black Catholic Educational Foundation, the American Association for Higher Education, and Wheeling Jesuit University (W.Va.).
The AERA is a national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good. Founded in 1916 and located in Washington, D.C., it has more than 26,000 members.
