Archon Mitchell Crusto contributes chapter to upcoming book on Katrina
Archon Mitchell Crusto of Alpha Alpha Boulé is a professor of law at Loyola University New Orleans. Archon Crusto has contributed a chapter to the upcoming book, “Hurricane Katrina: America’s Unnatural Disaster,” a collection of essays that urges the reader to examine how African-Americans and others were affected by the national and global response to the African-American victims of the storm.
The chapter is written in the style of a letter to his mother, except in this instance his mother is New Orleans. The letter chronicles a native’s experiences and reflections as he and his family evacuate the city prior to the storm. Crusto also recounts his reaction to the news of the devastation and the government’s overall mishandling of the situation, not only in the immediate days of the storm, but even years later.
