John Andrew Gregg, Sigma Boulé
Bishop John A. Gregg of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was presented the Medal for Merit by Secretary of War, Kenneth M. Royal, at the Pentagon building, Thursday afternoon, September 25, for his "outstanding services to the United Nations" during the war.
As an ambassador of goodwill, Bishop Gregg visited colored troops in the Southwest Pacific and the European theater, carrying them a religious message and greetings from the United States.
He is the presiding bishop of the fourth Episcopal district and resides in Kansas City, Kansas. Before his election to the bishopric in 1924, he served as president of Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Fla., from 1913 to 1920, and at Wilberforce University, Zenia, Ohio, from 1920 to 1924.
