The Reception and Art Exhibit

The reception and art exhibit, under the supervision of Archon Maurice C. Clifford, M.D., and his committee, was not one of those "routine affairs," but was one of the highlights of the Twenty-ninth Grand Boulé in every sense of the word.

The setting of the Pennsylvania Room West at the Sheraton Hotel, the Archousae with their beauty, charm and elegant dress, the dignified Archons, the chamber music and above all, Archon Aaron Douglass' paintings and his address on "Come Observations on the Background and Development of Afro-American Painting" added a new dimension to the reception hour.

Archon Hale Woodruff, professor emeritus of Art, New York University, who introduced Archon Woodruff, is an indication of the highly trained and talented Archons who make up the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.

The Occasion

The Twenty-ninth Grand Boul#233; of Sigma Pi Phi was held in the new and luxurious Sheraton Hotel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, July 28-31, 1968. The city of Philadelphia - the nation's fourth largest - a place of brotherly love, charm, and cordiality, rich in historical tradition and culture - provided an appropriate locale for this historic meeting.
